Why did we launch a male grooming salon?
We launched Genco in June 2007 because as customers ourselves we were tired of not being catered for properly. If you wanted a haircut then you had 2 choices, go to a barber where they try and break the world speed hair-cutting record and give you that 1 size fits all haircut, or go to a professional unisex salon where you always felt like you shouldn't quite be there.
And I remember when I was getting married, I had terrible skin from the stress of my job and the organisation of the wedding and at the time there weren't many places I could go to have a facial, and get some skin advice. Even though I am comfortable within my own skin I couldn't face going into a traditional beauty parlour - it was just too well - girlie.
So Genco was formed. A place where men can go and relax, hang out and get the best in hair and well-being services that women have been used to getting for years.

And it is our passion to do 2 things. Make our clients look and feel the best they can, not only by giving them great service, but by educating them and busting the mystique that surrounds 'beauty' treatments for men, and the second is to make sure when our clients visit us, they have a really good time. Its that simple.

What's different about Genco?
| It is a combination of having highly skilled, knowledgable and approachable professionals that work at Genco, with a service style and environment that is personable, and friendly. We play great tunes, and the chat is decent. |

Our view on this whole area of male grooming
Good grooming has nothing to do with vanity or body beautiful. It is about being disciplined about the way you look on the outside, which then reflects back on how you feel on the inside. In short when you look your best, you feel good and you’re on top form. When you think about ancient samurai warriors and British war generals, to them, grooming was an essential part of their daily ritual. It was akin to meditative practice, focusing their mind and building their inner resolve. The attention to detail to their grooming inspired their troops on the battlefield who looked up to a leader composed in every detail.
